To begin the
inventory, simply type a short,
descriptive item name into the "Item"
field. The name you input here
will instantly appear and become
highlighted as the active item in the
list of "Inventory Items" on the left
hand side of the screen.
You can easily
edit any item simply by clicking on its
name in the "Inventory Items" list and
the details you have already entered
will appear on the main screen.

The "Find" or
"Search" feature will help locate a
forgotten or missing item. |
We include best
naming and description practices for
common household items, fine art,
jewelry and collections in the Home
Inventory Business start-up kit.
Valuing the
items is also easy. Enter
the customer provided information, i.e. date they acquired the item, their
best estimate of what they paid for it and
mark it as an "estimated value".
If they do have a receipt or an
appraisal for an item, as shown in our
illustration, you will mark it as
"appraised".
The "Location"
field is an automated
field requiring no further input.
The
"Background" field is intentionally
large. This field can be used
differently for each item if necessary.
